Editor's note: I apologize for my recent absence from my blog. I'm working on a few big projects that I'll share with you soon. In the meantime, I'm lining up an allstar cast of guest bloggers to talk fitness, health, diet, strength, muscle, and pretty much anything and everything that has to do with living a better life. Martin spent the last 3 years of his life working on this book, including traveling the globe to learn new fitness techniques from different cultures. I asked Martin to share some of the special features in his book, one of which is warrior challenges that challenge mental and physical strength. Here's Martin's take on the challenge. Life is essentially about "rising to the challenge". The greater the challenge, the better the opportunity for a man to demonstrate how great he has become. The more often great challenges are undertaken, the chance to succeed when another arises is increased. So, the man that can be in a constant state of pushing his own limits will eventually be best prepared when an unforeseen challenge presents itself.
An underlying premise behind my new book, Ultimate Warrior Workouts, was that there is a certain level of fitness for different martial arts needed for a warrior to succeed. When I began my investigation for this book I instantly noticed that the ability to measure the "technical" level of a fighter was easily defined by the rank or belt that the fighter had achieved. But what about the level of physical fitness? This was much more difficult to identify. As a result of this statement, I created "Warrior Challenges" that would test the level of physical ability of an athlete and give him a ranking to better understand where he lies on the continuum of physical fitness.
