Castillo allegedly arrived from Argentina in Sydney on New Year's Eve on a false passport in the name of Fernando Calvo Las Heras. Three days later he allegedly struck gold literally.
Again using his trusty story, police allege he gained entry to a woman's room at Sydney's Intercontinental hotel, saying: "Airconditioner not working madam, air conditioner not working."

Police also believe he was responsible for a robbery at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne on January 11 worth $90,000.
But it was a shopping trip to Giulian jewellery store in Sydney's Four Seasons hotel which allegedly brought BrionesCastillo undone. Police allege he asked to see two rings a pink and white diamond and platinum ring worth $42,000, and a platinum ring worth $12,000.
